From Panama to Colombia
Our trip started in Nicaragua and led us via Costa Rica to Panama, which meant several 12-hour bus rides and two border crossings. Especially the border crossing to Panama was very adventurous, on one hand an exit ticket must be presented upon arrival, which we only had in the form of an invoice payment, and additionally we had to show $ 500 in cash to the officer, which was more than strange. Afterwards all the luggage was carefully checked by the military. Drugs or firearms – definitely not a good idea. Pretty tired from the long travel days, we took the boat to the islands of Bocas del Toro, which is also known as the home of many drug smugglers and tax fugitives. Not without reason, the deep blue water and the caribbean atmosphere allowed us to relax and enjoy. About a week we spent on Isla Bastimentos, which offered beautiful hikes on deserted beaches and tropical jungle. Our onward journey led us then to Panama City, where we were dragged again in the middle of
civilization, enticing us to skyscraper-watching, shopping and fast food. One attraction was also a visit to the Panama Canal which connects the Atlantic with the Pacific. After that our trip started in the direction of South America. A 4-day boat trip took us into one of the most beautiful paradises in the world, the islands of San Blas. Hundreds of small islands lining here the seascape and the clear blue water is more than perfect for snorkeling and swimming. We stayed overnight in small villages of the Kuna people, the indigenous inhabitants of these islands. Warmly they cooked us seafood and told us about the history of their people. Ultimately, the border crossing to Colombia was in turn connected with a lot of strains, so checked a drug search dog each bag, each backpack had to be completely emptied before an officer and the passport was thoroughly tested by another officer in his small office with salsa music in the background. Hello South America, hello Colombia!

Hi Roger,
Grosse Umarmung an euch dreien.
