Bolivia

After the demanding Salkantay Hike in Cusco, we allowed ourselves a bit of relaxation in Copacabana, Bolivia. Here we found the most beautiful hostel of our trip so far. Each bungalow was designed with much love for detail so we found in our suite a fireplace, warming hot-water bottles and a private garden with hammocks and views of the Lake Titicaca. We explored in a day trip Isla del Sol, which offers Inca ruins and a great scenery of the surrounding mountain landscape. The onward journey took us to La Paz, where Jasi and her boyfriend Yamil welcomed us with open arms. They showed us the versatility of this big city, which is uniquely situated in a

400-meter-deep canyon of the Río Chokeyapu. From here we explored the Salar de Uyuni, a 10’000 square kilometer large dried-up salt lake, which is hugely impressive by its immensity. With a great 6-member group and a jeep we were bursting the cold and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Back in La Paz we went with mountain bikes and Yamil as our guide on the famous Death Road, it was awesome! But soon after that I had to say goodbye to Pia and Jasi, the two take their journey home to Switzerland and I further explore Argentina for the next 1 1/2 months. It feels weird to be back traveling alone, but all the great memories of our trip connect us across the continents.
