Culture-shocked in India
When I decided to travel to India, I knew that I would dive into a completely different world so I tried my best to inform myself in advance about the culture, religion and the worldview of the Indians. I also had three months travel experience in South East Asia – it will be not so much different – I thought. Ha! What I experienced during my first week in India taught me no book or travel experience! I was hoping to experience the colorful India, with its oriental scents and open-minded people. Instead, I experienced steady scams, dishonesty, no
respect for nature, poor hygiene and a constant smell of shit in the air. Of course, not everything was a bad experience, I also met nice Indian musicians, had a great homestay in Bharatphur and was overwhelmed by the perfection of the Taj Mahal but all in all Rajasthan has left a bad feeling in me. For this reason I decided to abort my Rajasthan round trip and fly to the South where I hopefully find the India, which brings shine to my eyes. (P.S. diseases during my first week in india: diarrhea, vomit, abdominal cramps, eye inflammation, rash and cough). Cheers!

Always a pleasure to watch your beautiful pictures, my love :)
Hallo Roger
Bin froh wenns dir wieder gut geht.

Hi there Roger,
Although you are disappointed with that part of India do not let it get you down, India is a beautiful place but to discover it you need to go off the beaten track and find the real beauty. If you are ever going back up north you should visit Hauz Kas, a small village in Delhi at sunset, the view over the lake is stunning and the whole ruins complex is amazing. However, just down from the ruins there are dozens of expensive shops and hipster night clubs so everything has it’s downside.
Hope you find the India you are looking for because it is still there, only sometimes it is hidden.
