Hello South India!

Already the landing approach over Cochin showed the splendor of nature that Kerala has to offer. Picturesque forests, mountain ranges and waterfalls could be seen through the small window on the plane. Cochin is big city, but it is a lot more organized than the hectic Delhi, people seem relaxed and friendly. Fort Cochin is located on a peninsula just outside the city and offers a colorful mix of Portuguese architecture, Chinese

fishing nets and ancient mosques in a tropical setting. During a walk through the city I could admire the walls with colorful graffities, observe the work of the fishermen at the port or haggle at the market. There I met the Englishman Matt, with whom I learned the art of Indian cuisine in a nice homestay kitchen. The result was a coconut chicken curry on a bed of Kerala rice, accompanied by burri and a spicy vegetable dahl. Yummey!
