The South of New Zealand

A ferry took us at 02:30 am in a good 3 hours ride from the North Island to the South Island of New Zealand. Our route took us at first to the north in the Tasman National Park which offered great trekking and let us walk through beautiful green forests, to remote beaches and nice hills. This year we celebrated Christmas very atypically with warm temperatures, my first attempts at climbing a rock wall, a 3-course dinner on the gas cooker and beer with friendly people from all over the world. The trip took us then to the west coast of the island, which especially greeted us with a lot of rain and wind. At a campsite just outside of Queenstown, we celebrated New Year’s Eve, but only our cork pop at midnight reminded us that we are now in 2014 – blame were probably the countless signs of
